FAQ
Vacuum filter units use pressure to draw liquid through a membrane into a receiver, while bottle-top filter units screw directly onto a bottle for collection. Thermo Scientific Nalgene, Corning, Fisherbrand, and Sartorius options support fast media prep, sterile sample handling, and routine clarification.
Choose vacuum units for larger volumes, viscous samples, or higher throughput. Choose bottle-top units when direct-to-bottle collection and convenience matter most. Corning, Fisherbrand, and Sartorius offer common lab formats, while Duran supports reusable glass workflows.
Use 0.2 μm for sterilising liquids, 0.45 μm for clarification, and 1.0–5.0 μm for prefiltration. Thermo Scientific Nalgene, Merck, and Sartorius filter units in the range support media preparation, particle removal, and longer membrane life.
Many single-use filter units arrive pre-sterilised, especially bottle-top and vacuum systems from Thermo Scientific Nalgene, Fisherbrand, Corning, and Sartorius. Always check packaging before use. Reusable Duran glassware and holders need validated cleaning and sterilisation between runs.
Single-use plastic units are designed for one-time use to protect sterility and performance. Reusable glass, stainless steel, or autoclavable assemblies can be cleaned and used again, but membranes are often still single-use. Duran and Thermo Scientific holders fit reusable lab routines.
