Description

Description

p73 exhibits sequence homology to the p53's transcriptional activation, DNA binding, and oligomerization domains. However, adenovirus E1B 55K, simian virus 40 T, and human papillomavirus E6 do not physically interact with p73 indicating that the functions of these two proteins may differ under physiological conditions. p73 is expressed in either a full-length form (α) (MW ∽80kDa) or a shorter (Β) (MW ∽70kDa) mRNA variant, with exon 13 spliced out. Transient overexpression of p73 in cells can induce apoptosis and p21, a cellular p53 target gene primarily responsible for p53-dependent cell cycle arrest.

Host Species: Mouse

Clone: ER-15

Isotype: IgG1/κ

Species Reactivity: Human and Monkey. Others not known.

Epitope: aa 380-637 (p73α)

Immunogen: Purified monkey recombinant p73α protein (aa 380-637)

Molecular Weight: 80kDa (p73α) and 70kDa (p73β)

Positive Control: COS monkey kidney cells and IM9 human myeloma cells; SK-N-AS human neuroblastoma cells lack p73α/β

Cellular Localization: Nuclear Ab-2 binds to both p73α and p73β in immunoprecipitation and Western Blot assays. Circumstantial evidence suggestes that the epitopes of Ab-2 and Ab-3 are different.

Recommended for:

  • Western Blotting
  • Immunofluorescence
  • Immunoprecipitation
  • Gel Supershift

Note:

USA: RUO; Int'l: RUO
