Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

Description: This TCM5 monoclonal antibody recognizes recombinant proteins containing a V5 epitope tag. The V5 epitope is naturally present on the P and V proteins of the paramyxovirus, SV5. TCM5 specifically recognizes the sequence GKPIPNPLLGLDST. Applications Reported: This TCM5 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis. Applications Tested: This TCM5 antibody has been pre-diluted and tested by flow cytometric analysis of the human 293T cancer cell line transfected with the V5 tagged Type II transmembrane protein CD207 and a GFP reporter gene. This may be used at 5 μL (0.25 μg) per test for surface staining and at 1.25 μL (0.06 μg) per test for intracellular staining. A test is defined as the amount (μg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 μL. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test. Excitation: 488-561 nm; Emission: 578 nm; Laser: Blue Laser, Green Laser, Yellow-Green Laser.

Epitope tags provide a method to localize gene products in a variety of cell types, study the topology of proteins and protein complexes, identify associated proteins, and characterize newly identified, low abundance or poorly immunogenic proteins when protein specific antibodies are not available. The V5 epitope tag is derived from a small epitope (Pk) present on the P and V proteins of the paramyxovirus of simian virus (SV5). The V5 tag is usually used with all 14 amino acids (GKPIPNPLLGLDST), although it has also been used with a shorter 9 amino acid sequence (IPNPLLGLD).
