Melford Timentin
Description
Timentin contains two antibiotics: ticarcillin (a penicillin) and clavulanate potassium (a beta-lactamase inhibitor).
Ticarcillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, disrupting the integrity of the bacterial cell wall and leading to bacterial cell lysis. Clavulanate potassium works by inhibiting beta-lactamases, enzymes produced by bacteria that can inactivate beta-lactam antibiotics, such as ticarcillin. This combination is effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria, including those producing beta-lactamases.
