Terrific broth is a nutritionally rich medium for the growth of bacteria and used to promote strain maintenance, cloning, and protein expression.

Terrific Broth (TB) is used with glycerol in cultivating recombinant strains of Escherichia coli. Terrific Broth II is a rich nutrient media for propagation of Escherichia coli for purposes of strain maintenance, cloning, protein expression. It is certified for plasmid and other bacterial cultures in liquid medium. Higher cell densities are achieved using Terrific Broth in comparison to traditional LB Broth.
