Manufactured according to Eu. Ph. Chapter 4 (4.1.1) and prepared in an ISO 9001 facility. Starch Solution, EP Grade, Reagecon™ is a ready-to-use reagent with 1g soluble starch in a solution of water and mercuric iodide for use in manual and automated titrations, including redox titrations.

Starch solution is often used an indicator reagent in redox titrations, where it turns blue in the presence of an oxidizing agent and colorless with exposure to a reducing agent.

This starch solution is prepared by triturating 1.0g soluble starch with 5mL water and then stirring the mixture into 100mL boiling water containing 10mg mercuric iodide.
