Sodium n-dodecyl sulfate is an anionic detergent used to function as a protein denaturant. It is mainly used in detergents for laundry with many cleaning applications. In food products, it is used as an emulsifying agent and a whipping aid. It is widely found in toothpastes, shampoos, shaving creams and bubble bath formulations due to its thickening effect and ability to create a lather.
