RT1.D is a gene located within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region of the rat genome, specifically part of the RT1 complex. These genes encode for proteins that present extracellularly derived peptides to helper T cells (CD4+ T cells), facilitating the activation and regulation of immune responses.
