Thermo Scientific™ Sabouraud Maltose Agar (Dehydrated)
Description
Identify dermatophytes and other fungi and yeasts with the acidic Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Sabouraud Maltose Agar (Dehydrated). The low pH supports the growth of fungi while inhibiting bacterial growth in mixed samples. Fungi maintain their typical cultural appearance and, thus, can be readily identified according to standard macroscopic characters.
This medium differs from Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (CM0041) only in the carbohydrate incorporated. Sabouraud Maltose Agar may be used, with or without antibiotics, where a maltose medium is preferred.
Cultivate and differentiate fungi with Sabouraud Maltose Agar, a modification of Sabouraud agar (Carlier1). The medium is often used with antibiotics for the isolation of pathogenic fungi from material containing large numbers of other fungi or bacteria.
- Suitable for identification of pathogenic fungi from material containing large numbers of other fungi or bacteria
- Suitable for the reactions where maltose is the preferred carbohydrate source.
- Gives reliable results with Microsporum audouini, Microsporum canis, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton flavum, Trichophyton rubrum and Candida albicans.
