Nitronium tetrafluoroborate, 90%
Description
Ingold's method of competitive nitration has been used in order to determine relative reactivities of alkylbenzenes and benzene in homogeneous mononitrations with nitronium tetrafluoroborate in tetramethylene sulfone solutions. Oxidation of both exo-and endo-2-bromonorbornane with nitronium tetrafluoroborate in acetonitrile afforded N-exo-2-norbornylacetamide. Used in the synthesis and characterization of new polyhydroxyorganocarboxylated fullerene derivatives through the electrophilic addition of nitronium tetrafluoroborate onto fullerenes in the presence of arenecarboxylic acid in a nonaqueous medium.
