Invitrogen™ Cell Culture Contamination Detection Kit
Description
The Cell Culture Contamination Detection Kit is a simple and effective procedure for screening tissue cultures for contamination by microorganisms. The kit not only detects contaminants, but it also identifies the contaminant type. Three fluorescent dyes distinctly stain yeast (and other fungi), gram-positive and gram negative bacteria by slide preparation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
This kit can screen tissue cultures for contamination by microorganisms. The kit not only serves to detect the contaminants, it also identifies the contaminant type. Three fluorescent dyes distinctly stain yeast (and other fungi), gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria in slide preparations. The kit provides results within one hour, and, by staining the microorganisms with different fluorescent colors, it helps a scientist choose an appropriate course of action.
Yes, the Cell Culture Contamination Detection Kit will detect/stain mycoplasma. The SYTO-9 cell-permeant dye will stain every cell, including the mammalian cells (if present). Mycoplasma will be seen as small contaminating cells in the medium. It may be challenging to identify Mycoplasma from other possible contaminating species, if present.
We also offer the MycoFluor Mycoplasma Detection Kit (Cat. No. M7006) for mycoplasma detection in lab cultures.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
