Description
Gibco™ KaryoMAX™ Colcemid™ Solution in PBS is a 10μg/ml N-desacetyl-N-methylocolchicine (Colcemid™) solution made in Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS). It is used for arresting cells in metaphase so the chromosomes can be separated for cytogenetic studies and in vitro diagnostic procedures. Colcemid™ prevents spindle formation during mitosis, causing metaphase arrest. The mechanism of action is similar to that of colchicine, but with lower mammalian toxicity. The complete formulation is available.
