• Galactins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions
  • Galectin-3-binding protein (LGALS3BP, 90K, Mac-2 BP) is a secreted glycoprotein binds galectin-3, galectin-1, beta1 integrins, collagens, fibronectin
  • Implicated in tumor metastatic processes and other cell adhesion and immune functions
  • Found elevated in serum of patients with cancer and in those infected by HIV
  • Found in breast milk, semen, saliva, urine, tears and serum

Process:

• Antibody specific for LGALS3BP pre-coated onto microwells
• LGALS3BP protein in samples captured by the coated antibody after incubation
• After extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for human LGALS3BP is added to detect captured human LGALS3BP protein
• For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent
• Solution containing sulfuric acid used to stop color development and color intensity
  • Proportional to quantity of bound protein, measurable at 450 nm with correction wavelength set at 630 nm
