Invitrogen™ Potassium (K) Turbidimetric Assay Kit
Description
The Potassium (K) Turbidimetric Assay Kit is a highly reliable and sensitive assay designed for the quantitative measurement of potassium content in serum, plasma, milk, tissue, cells, and other sample types. Potassium is an essential ion that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, including muscle and nerve function, fluid balance, and cardiovascular health. Potassium deficiency and excess can each result in different signs and symptoms, including abnormal heart rhythm and various electrocardiographic abnormalities
In this assay, under alkaline conditions, potassium ions in the sample react with sodium tetraphenylborate to form potassium tetraphenylborate, a turbid white solution with little solubility. The turbidity is proportional to the potassium ion concentration, which can be calculated indirectly by measuring the OD value at 450 nm.
