Description

Description

Description: The monoclonal antibody MB3.6 recognizes human disialoganglioside GD3, a membrane-bound sialic acid-containing glycosphingolipid. Gangliosides are synthesized in the Golgi apparatus by glycosyltransferases before localizing to the plasma membrane. Gangliosides function as receptors for growth factors and hormones as well as mediating interaction with adhesion molecules at the surface of all cells. GD3 is expressed at low levels in retina pigment cells and melanocytes. Elevated GD3 levels are found in neural stem cells, epithelial-origin tumor cells (cervical, ovarian, prostate, breast, and skin), as well as T-cell leukemic lymphoblasts (T-ALL). The GD3 monoclonal antibody has been reported to fix complement and induce antibody-dependent cytotoxicity of melanoma cell lines. Applications Reported: This MB3.6 antibody has been reported for use in immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissue sections, immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections, microscopy, and immunocytochemistry. Applications Tested: This MB3.6 antibody has been tested by immunohistochemistry of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded human tissue using low or high pH antigen retrieval and can be used at less than or equal to 5 μg/mL. This MB3.6 antibody has been tested by immunocytochemistry of formaldehyde-fixed cells and can be used at less than or equal to 5 μg/mL.

It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest. Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE. Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC. Filtration: 0.2 μm post-manufacturing filtered. Disialoganglioside GD3 is a membrane-bound sialic acid-containing glycosphingolipid.
