Description
Dimethyl sulfoxide is used as a solvent for chemical reactions involving salts, most notably in Finkelstein reactions and in other nucleophilic substitutions. DMSO is an effective pain relieving agent. Used in antifreeze or hydraulic fluids. Utilized in the oxidation of thiols and disulfides to sulfonic acids. Used to enhance dermal absorption of many chemicals.
