Description

Description

Corning Matrigel Basement Membrane Matrix is a solubilized tissue basement membrane preparation containing laminin, collagen type IV, heparan sulfate proteoglycan and entactin. Corning Matrigel Matrix is useful as a substrate for growth and differentiation of many normal and transformed cell types, such as epithelial, endothelial, muscle and neuronal cells. Corning BioCoat Thin Layer Matrigel cultureware contain a dried thin layer of Corning Matrigel Basement Membrane Matrix. Rehydration results in the formation of a thin “basement membrane” gel layer on the cultureware surface. Specific applications for Thin Layer Matrigel cellware include culturing of primary contractile skeletal myotubes, neuronal cell morphological differentiation, studies of vascular smooth muscle cell interaction with the extracellular matrix and the effects of the extracellular matrix on the function and morphology of lung alveolar, and bile ductular epithelial cells.

  • Especially suited for culture of polarized cells, such as epithelial cells, and promotes differentiation of hepatocytes, mammary epithelial cells and smooth muscle cells
  • Promotes capillary tubule formation of endothelial cells and neurite regeneration
  • Can be used for angiogenesis assays
  • Tested for the ability to promote neurite outgrowth from chick dorsal root ganglia (in the absence of NGF)
