Description
For reconstitution, add sterile, distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of 1 mg/mL. Gently shake to solubilize the protein completely. Do not vortex. Reconstituted products should be stored at -80 °. This antibody can also be cross referenced by the term CNTO 607.
IL13 (Interleukin-13) is a gene located on chromosome 5q31, encoding the IL-13 cytokine, which plays a pivotal role in the immune system, particularly in the regulation of inflammatory and immune responses. IL-13 is predominantly secreted by Th2 cells and is involved in the pathogenesis of allergic reactions and chronic inflammatory conditions such as asthma and ulcerative colitis. This cytokine exerts its effects by binding to the IL-13 receptor complex, which includes IL-13R aplha 1 and IL-4R alpha. Upon binding, IL-13 activates several signaling pathways, including the JAK-STAT pathway, leading to the transcription of genes involved in the immune response. IL-13 is also implicated in tissue remodeling and fibrosis due to its ability to stimulate fibroblast proliferation and collagen production. Dysregulation of IL-13 expression or signaling is associated with various diseases, making it a target for therapeutic intervention, particularly in allergic and autoimmune conditions.
