Recombinant Protein

For maximum recovery please spin prior to use. Unless noted below, aliquots of the 5 μg, 10 μg and 20 μg sizes of kinase are not recommended as materials can be used in original packaging until exhausted. For larger sizes, the number of freeze/thaws may be reduced by preparing aliquots, aliquots below 20 μL are not recommended. Please never store a kinase diluted. If properly stored at -80C, this product is guaranteed for 6 months from date of purchase. This CDK4/cyclin D3 recombinant human protein (CDK4: full length, cyclin D3: full length) was expressed in insect cells. CDK4/cyclin D3 recombinant human protein is also available in our SelectScreen™ Kinase Profiling Service. Validated for use with the Adapta™ assay Available in multiple pack sizes for convenient use Also available in our SelectScreen Kinase Profiling Service Protein Form: Full Length, Recombinant, Active The gene accession number for the subunits CKD4 and Cyclin D3 are NP_000066.1 and NP_001751.1.

CDK4, also known as Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 4, is a member of the cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) family. These kinases are key regulators of cell cycle progression. CDK4 is particularly involved in driving the transition from the G1 phase to the S phase of the cell cycle. Cyclin D3 is a regulatory subunit that binds to CDK4 and activates its kinase activity. The binding of Cyclin D3 to CDK4 is essential for the proper functioning of CDK4, as cyclins regulate the activation and specificity of CDKs. Together, the CDK4/Cyclin D3 complex plays a crucial role in promoting cell cycle progression, specifically by phosphorylating the retinoblastoma protein (Rb), which leads to the release of E2F transcription factors and the subsequent activation of genes required for DNA synthesis.
