Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

Description: The AN-G30 monoclonal antibody reacts with human gp130, also known as CD130. gp130 is the common receptor subunit for the IL-6 family of cytokines, including IL-6, IL-11, IL-27, Oncostatin M, and LIF. gp130 is expressed on numerous cell types, including T cells, mast cells, and epithelial cells. Soluble forms of gp130 have been isolated from human serum samples. Upon ligand binding, gp130 signals via the JAK-STAT, MAPK, and PI3 kinase pathways Applications Reported: This AN-G30 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis, immunoprecipitation, and immunoblotting (WB). Applications Tested: This AN-G30 antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. This can be used at less than or equal to 0.125 μg per test. A test is defined as the amount (μg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 μL. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest. Filtration: 0.2 μm post-manufacturing filtered.

The protein encoded by this gene is a signal transducer shared by many cytokines, including interleukin 6 (IL6), ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), and oncostatin M (OSM). This protein functions as a part of the cytokine receptor complex. The activation of this protein is dependent upon the binding of cytokines to their receptors. vIL6, a protein related to IL6 and encoded by the Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, can bypass the interleukin 6 receptor (IL6R) and directly activate this protein. Knockout studies in mice suggested a critical role of the gene encoding this protein in regulating myocyte apoptosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
