Description
Description: The monoclonal antibody X1AO2 recognizes human Brachyury, a 47 kDa protein encoded by the T gene and functioning as a nuclear transcription factor. This transcription factor binds to specific DNA regions near the palindromic sequence TCACACCT (T-site) through a region in its N-terminus, called the T-box. Brachyury functions during embryogenesis to regulate midline development by establishing the anterior/posterior axis through the regulation of genes involved in mesoderm formation and differentiation. Brachyury is the primary mesoderm marker used to distinguish differentiation of embryonic stem cells into a mesenchymal stem cell lineage. Variations in the T gene in humans are associated with neural tube defects and chordomas. Expression of brachyury is also increased in advanced stage lung tumors and tumor cell lines. Applications Reported: This X1AO2 antibody has been reported for use in western blotting, immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections, microscopy, immunohistochemical staining, and immunocytochemistry. Applications Tested: This X1AO2 antibody has been tested by immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin embedded human tissue using low pH antigen retrieval and can be used at less than or equal to 5 μg/mL. This X1AO2 antibody has also been tested by immunocytochemistry of fixed and permeabilized human cells and can be used at less than or equal to 5 μg/mL.
The protein encoded by this gene is an embryonic nuclear transcription factor that binds to a specific DNA element, the palindromic T-site. It binds through a region in its N-terminus, called the T-box, and effects transcription of genes required for mesoderm formation and differentiation. The protein is localized to notochord-derived cells.Specifications
