Invitrogen™ Salmon Sperm DNA, sheared (10 mg/mL)
Description
Sheared Salmon Sperm DNA is a very effective blocking agent when used in Northern prehybridization and hybridization buffers at a concentration of 100 to 200 μg/mL.
Using this product
This sheared salmon sperm DNA has been treated with Proteinase K to remove any contaminating nucleases, followed by organic extraction with phenol:chloroform and ethanol precipitation. Salmon Sperm DNA is rigorously tested for RNase and DNase contamination and is suspended in nuclease-free water in a 1mL tube at a concentration of 10 mg/mL (1 mL per tube).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
We do not have specific guidance on the number of freeze thaws for Salmon Sperm DNA, but it can be frozen and thawed multiple times.
You can use Yeast tRNA (10 mg/mL) (Cat. No. AM7119). When used at a final concentration of 10–20 µg/mL, yeast tRNA is an effective coprecipitant to aid in recovery of small amounts of nucleic acids. For more information, see the following link.
The molecular size of the Salmon Sperm DNA (Cat. No. AM9680) is around 200-500 bp.
