Description

Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

This antibody specifically recognizes members of the Aspergillus species including A. fumigatus, A. flavus and A. niger, reacting strongly with walls and septae, and to a lesser extent within the cytoplasm of hyphae. This product requires protein digestion pre-treatment of paraffin sections using trypsin or pronase. In Western blot, this antibody detects a band at ~106k Da in Aspergillus fumigatus wall fraction (WF).

Aspergillus species are highly aerobic and are found in almost all oxygen-rich environments, where they commonly grow as molds on the surface of a substrate, as a result of the high oxygen tension. Some Aspergillus species cause serious disease in humans.
