Description

Description

Description: The monoclonal antibody 1F3 recognizes human TRAF-1. TRAF-1 is a multifunctional adapter molecule and member of the TNF receptor associated factor protein family. TRAF proteins associate with various receptors of the TNF receptor superfamily to mediate signal transduction. TRAF-1 plays a role in regulating cell survival and apoptosis, regulates the signaling of NF kappa B and JNK, and forms a heterodimeric complex with TRAF-2. TRAF-1 also interacts with cell surface receptors such as CD30, CD40, and CD357 (AITR), and cytoplasmic proteins like NIK, RIP2, A20, and TRIP. Expression of TRAF-1 can be induced by Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) and TNF alpha. Applications Reported: This 1F3 antibody has been reported for use in western blotting, microscopy, immunohistochemical staining, and immunocytochemistry. Applications Tested: This 1F3 antibody has been tested by immunohistochemistry of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded human tissue using low pH antigen retrieval and can be used at less than or equal to 5 μg/mL. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest. Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE. Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC. Filtration: 0.2 μm post-manufacturing filtered.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the TNF receptor (TNFR) associated factor (TRAF) protein family. TRAF proteins associate with, and mediate the signal transduction from various receptors of the TNFR superfamily. This protein and TRAF2 form a heterodimeric complex, which is required for TNF-alpha-mediated activation of MAPK8/JNK and NF-kappaB. The protein complex formed by this protein and TRAF2 also interacts with inhibitor-of-apoptosis proteins (IAPs), and thus mediates the anti-apoptotic signals from TNF receptors. The expression of this protein can be induced by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). EBV infection membrane protein 1 (LMP1) is found to interact with this and other TRAF proteins; this interaction is thought to link LMP1-mediated B lymphocyte transformation to the signal transduction from TNFR family receptors. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene.
