Sino Biological™ CD63 Recombinant Human Protein, His Tag

This recombinant human protein is expressed from a DNA sequence encoding the second the extracellular domain (Ala 103-Val 203) of human CD63 (P08962-1) fused to both a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus and a signal peptide at the N-terminus

Cluster of Differentiation 63 (CD63) recombinant human protein is supplied as a lyophilized powder. This protein is suitable for use in analysis of protein structure. In general, recombinant proteins can also be used as an immunogen, as a protein standard, or in cell biology research applications.&line-break;Background: CD63, is a multipass membrane protein which belongs to the tetraspanin (TM4SF) family. Tetraspanins participate in a variety of cellular processes, like cell activation, adhesion, differentiation and tumour invasion. CD63/Tspan-30 is expressed in melanoma and appears to be involved in regulation of motility and adhesion of melanoma cells. CD63/Tspan-30 is associated with early stages of melanoma tumor progression. It may play a role in growth regulation. Lack of expression of CD63 in platelets has been observed in a patient with Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome (HPS), which is a genetically heterogeneous, rare, autosomal recessive disorder characterized by oculocutaneous albinism, bleeding due to platelet storage pool deficiency, and lysosomal storage defects.
