DescriptionMouse IL-6 (also known as B Cell Stimulating Factor, BCSF, and BSF-2) is a ∽21-28 kDa factor produced by a variety of cell types, including monocytes, fibroblasts and endothelial cells. Upon stimulation, macrophages, T, B, mast, and glial cells, eosinophils, keratinocytes and granulocytes also secrete IL-6. This pleiotrophic cytokine influences the antigen-specific immune response, inflammatory response, and the development of neurons, and is a major mediator of the acute phase reaction.
Sterile liquid: 0.1M glycine, pH 3.0, 0.5% BSA. 0.22μm filtered.
E. coli expressed amino acids Phe 25-Thre 211 of mature mouse IL-6 accession # MMINTL6
The ED50 of this protein, as measured by B9 cell proliferation assay, is less than or equal to 5pg/mL. This corresponds to a specific activity of greater than or equal to 2 x 108 Units/mg.
Cytokine Bioassays, ELISA
The protein is methionylated at the N-terminal. The DTT reduced and non-reduced protein migrate as 19kDa polypeptides on SDS-PAGE.
Less than 0.01ng/μg cytokine as determined by the LAL assay.
