DescriptionDescription: This B97 monoclonal antibody reacts with human lactoferrin. This 80-kDa glycoprotein is detectable in the kidney, lung, pancreas, gallbladder, prostate, seminal vesicle, gut, and liver. Lactoferrin is also present in mucosal secretions such as breast milk, tears, and saliva. In immune cells, high levels of lactoferrin can be found within the secondary granules of neutrophils, but not in lymphocytes or monocytes. A member of the transferrin family of proteins, lactoferrin binds two iron molecules to mediate its transport and storage. Lactoferrin plays an important role in host defense against pathogens and can regulate adaptive immune responses. Receptors for lactoferrin are present on the surface of lymphocytes, granulocytes, monocytes, mast cells, epithelial, and endothelial cells.Applications Reported: This B97 antibody has been reported for use in immunoblotting (WB) and immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections.Applications Tested: This B97 antibody has been tested using high pH antigen retrieval immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin embedded human infiltrating ductal carcinoma and by western blot on reduced human saliva lysate. For immunohistochemistry, this antibody can be used at less than or equal to 10 μg/mL. For western blotting, the B97 antibody can be used at less than or equal to 1 μg/mL. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC.Filtration: 0.2μm post-manufacturing filtered.
