Description

The monoclonal antibody CDF4 recognizes human Golgin-97. Golgin-97, a GRIP domain protein member that was first identified as a Golgi complex autoantigen associated with Sjogren’s syndrome. Golgin-97 is a peripheral membrane protein found on the trans face of the Golgi apparatus. The protein G family member, Arl1, mediates the binding of Golgin-97 to the Golgi membrane. Like all GRIP proteins, Golgin-97 functions in maintaining the integrity of the trans Golgi network. Golgin-97 has also been shown to function as a tethering molecule in the retrograde transport of proteins from the endosomes to the trans Golgi network. During poxvirus infection, Golgin-97 incorporates into virions and plays a role in viral replication and morphogenesis.
