DescriptionIron regulatory protein 2 (IRP2) is a central post-transcriptional regulator of cellular and systemic iron metabolism. It is a cytosolic RNA-binding protein that binds to stem-loop structures. IRP2 is regulated by iron-mediated proteolysis. Hypoxia is important for normal tissue physiology as well as being a component of several pathophysiological conditions, including heart and cerebrovascular diseases and tumor growth. Because iron and oxygen are closely related, IRP2 also plays a role during hypoxia (low oxygen).
Host Species: Rabbit
Cross Reactivity: Human, Mouse
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminal residues 1-100 of human IRP2 (UniProt P48200).
Formulation: 100μL purified antibody (1mg/mL) in tris glycine with 0.15M NaCl and 0.05% sodium azide
Synonyms: Iron-responsive element binding protein 2, IRE-BP 2, Iron regulatory protein 2
Uniprot Accession: Q811J3
Entrez GeneID: 64602
Gene Symbol: IREB2
This antibody is predicted to work in human based on 100% sequence homology, however preliminary data shows poor reactivity against human protein. This antibody also has 72% sequence homology with rat. Suggested positive control: 3T3 whole cell lysate.
