General Purpose Burets
General Purpose Burets
General purpose burets are used for measuring liquid solutions or gases in analytical and quantitative chemistry applications. The buret’s stopcock is located at the bottom of its tube for liquid measurements and at the top for gas measurements. Glass general purpose burets are typically graduated. Unlike a pipette, the sample quantity from a glass buret is changeable, making them suited for titration experiments. For titrations of an acid and base solutions, the buret is filled with acid and the stopcock open, allowing the acid to flow in a steady stream or drop-by-drop into a flask.
